Official release of FotoSketcher 1.9

Hi all!

FotoSketcher 1.9 is officially released and can be downloaded from http://www.FotoSketcher.com/

Here is an example of the new oil painting effect (photo credit Stck Xchng, as usual):

What's new in version 1.9:
- New watercolor effect
- New oil painting (impasto) effect
- Better dropdown list of filters
- Reset a drawing parameter by double-clicking on its name (eg 'Colour intensity')
- When using a lined frame, easily swap colours with a new button
- Some bug fixes, of course (and probably some new bugs added...)

Enjoy!

David

Congrats on the 1.90 version, she's VERY nice.

I've noticed something you might like to play with as a new preset thingy:

On some images Paint 6 leaves it too busy. If you do a Paint 3 (to act as a simplifier) then a Paint 6, you get a lot nicer Oil Paint effect.

See these:

Paint 6 alone - http://i31.tinypic.com/33mv38k.jpg

Paint 3 then Paint 6 - http://i30.tinypic.com/30n8020.jpg

Hi Barry,

Thanks for your very nice comment!

I really like your examples (in fact I like both, even the busy one).

I am thinking of adding a kind of simple macro function in FotoSketcher, which would allow people to chain multiple effects automatically.

Alternatively, you can also use the source image modification menu (F9) to simplify the image and then use Painting 6.

Best regards,

David

The output really depends on the photo you begin with. I tried portrait with unsatisfactory results. Plus, downloading the program from one of the "mirrors' brought my antivirus up and listed a trojah. This software has been problematic for me on both counts.

Hi Anonymous,

The output depends indeed on the kind of photograph you start with. I have found that the best results are usually on landscapes, architecture, flowers... But some portraits turn out nicely too.
As for the Trojan you mention, if you follow the links on the FotoSketcher site, you will have no problem. Some antiviruses tend to give false positives, so don't hesitate to double check (I recommend www.virustotal.com).
