Just a quick update to let you know that I'm currently working on a brand new painting effect. It's early days yet, but I'll keep you posted when a beta version is available.
This effect is based on a new segmentation algorithm. I've tried to create a loose style (with transparency) in order to emulate a watercolour.
Here is an example (click for larger view):
I hope you like it :) All the best,
David

I love it.
Thanks :-)
This looks more like a watercolor than anything you've done before.
I've been painting with watercolors for 60 years.
I'd like to try the beta when ready.
Thank you.
Thank you very much. I'm still working on the effect, but I'll post a beta version soon :)
Thst is pretty cool. Your effects keep getting better and better.
Thank you, John :) I'm still working on this new effect (and struggling a bit to be honest...) as I want it to look good on very different source images.
SQEEEEEEEE!!!!
Watercolour with an edge overlay!!??
*bows to you*
"Master...."
Salut David,
Watercolor is one of my favorite tool to play with. But I noticed that most softwares have a hard time with rendering the subtleties of the medium.
One aspect is that the software should have a masking tool to help prevent or enhance one section over another.
Take a look here to see what I mean: http://bit.ly/1vBpcK6
You can see that without masking the watercolor wouldn't be "right".
Hope this will help you, and maybe you can think about adding a "masking" tool to your repertoire!
Cheers!
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the example. In fact, I think you could probably use the manual brush tool in FotoSketcher to apply slightly different parameters to some parts of the image, which could emulate this masking tool.
Cheers,
David

Muchas Gracias, Rafael :)
I continue to love this program and tell everyone about it. We have created some wall hangers with it and everyone marvels at the effects.
Thanks, Paul :-)
I just downloaded this free program today, what was I waiting for?
I paint .
but this program helped me to put together the color and light values that I imagined in my head in front of my eyes !
Instead of just imagining a painting in one style ,I now want to try three paintings at once !One water color, oil and heavy body acrylic.
Wow it's like I feel just discovered the light bulb !
thank you so much for this free program!
Thank you :-)
