FotoSketcher 2.10 - early beta available

Hi!

I've just uploaded a new beta version of FotoSketcher 2.10 if you want to play with the new Painting 8 (expressive brushstrokes) effect. You can download it here: http://www.fotosketcher.com/FotoSketcher_beta.exe

The new effect is very processor intensive, so despite some optimizing it still takes a while to run. I suggest you don't use it on larger images ;-)

Here is an example of the new filter:

Don't hesitate to let me know what you think!

All the best,

David

Hi David,

Upon trying the newest version, I found out that the descriptive names for paintings are replaced by numbers, from 1 to 25. Is this a mistake, or the new way of describing tools?

Hi Peter,

This is a temporary "feature/bug". Just choose a language in the file menu and everything should be back to normal.

Merci David,

Thanks, it works in English!
By the way, is there a way to have a "drag-and-drop" feature to drag an image from another application directly into FS? For instance, I choose my photos with Faststone Viewer, and I would like to drag the one I chose directly into FS.

I really like the new effect, still I would like to have a "brush stroke feel" with brush stroke thickness applied to the picture.... Well, you know me, I'm still thinking about the "impasto" effect. ;-)

(The beta version takes up about 25% of my CPU, not too bad, I've seen worse.)

You're in luck, just drag and drop an image to the left pane and it should open :-) It even works if you drag and drop an image from the web.
Also, if FotoSketcher is not started, you can drag and drop an image onto the FotoSKetcher icon and it should launch the application with your image loaded.
Paint thickness "a la Impasto" is still at the back of my mind ;-)

Im liking the new effect expressive brushstrokes

I've seen you have not put the other new affect new algorithms ideas you was talking about.

David said...

Thanks Zakir. Yes, the only new effect is painting 8.

Hi David

will you be adding new algorithms ideas you was talking about in the official release or another beta release

Hi Zakir,
The only effect which is near completion is the new Painting 8 filter. I will of course continue to work on new ideas in the future.

Bonjour David

A suivre...

Vraiment magnifique. Bonne chance!
