FotoSketcher 2.35 Release Candidate - New Pencil Sketch effect and now available in Chinese

Hi All,

FotoSketcher 2.35 is now close to being officially released.
You can download Release Candidate 1 here: http://www.fotosketcher.com/FotoSketcher_235_RC1.exe

Apart from a lot of behind the scene modifications, here are the main changes:
- new Pencil Sketch 5 effect
- Simplified Chinese language now available
- improved Automatic contrast and sharpening (CTRL+A)

Here is an example of the new Pencil Sketch 5 effect, merged with Painting 7 and Painting 5 (for the sky). Click on the image for full size view:

New beta available: 2.35 **updated**

Dear FotoSketcher users,

I've scrapped version 2.31, which was causing problems to some users (mainly on Windows XP) and have rewritten a completely new version, 2.35c beta, which you can download here: www.fotosketcher.com/FotoSketcher_beta_235c.exe

Hopefully, this version will behave better and especially will not show the "débordement d'entier" error message (which means "Integer overflow" in French) that some of you reported.

FotoSketcher 2.31 beta available

After quite a lot of fine tuning and tweaking, a beta version of FotoSketcher 2.31 is finally available for download.

The main change is the new Pencil Sketch 5 filter. Here is an example (in colour and black & white):

This version is an early beta and there is still a lot of work to be done. The elusive bug which only occurs on some Windows XP machines (and on none of the ones I tested of course) is still there (error message 'débordement d'entier'), so I might have to revert to version 2.25 and rewrite everything up to 2.31...

But at least you can play with the new Pencil Sketch 5 filter.

Also the next version will be translated in Chinese.

New pencil sketch effect

Hi all,

Just a quick word to let you know that I am currently tweaking a new pencil sketch effect. It uses improved edge detection and texturing algorithms.

New video tutorial - how to apply multiple effects

Hi all,

First some quick news :

• I am currently working on porting FotoSketcher to the Mac and should be able to upload an early test version soon
• On Windows XP, some users have reported that version 2.30 gives an error message ('débordement d'entier', which means 'Integer overflow'). I have been unable to reproduce this error.
• Fortunately, the error message does not seem to prevent FotoSketcher from working normally
• In case you have problems, I have left version 2.25 available on www.fotosketcher.com

I have also uploaded a new video tutorial, showing how to apply multiple effects on an image, using the manual brush and some creative use of the clipboard and undo/redo.

FotoSketcher 2.30 is officially released

Hi all,

The latest version of FotoSketcher (2.30) is now officially available.

Go to http://www.fotosketcher.com/ to download the new and improved (and still 100% free) FotoSketcher!

So, what's new in version 2.30?
- new "Pencil sketch 4" effect (black & white or color)
- improved "Pen & Ink sketch 1" effect
- some interface improvements
- ini file bug fix (the ini file could not be saved on some versions of Windows, due to UAC)
- for Windows 7 users, a progress report is now shown in the taskbar application icon (useful if you minimize FotoSketcher during a long process). This idea was suggested by a user. Thanks ;-)
- the optional FotoSketcher toolbar setup has also been simplified and clarified

FotoSketcher Version 2.25 is now officially released!
As usual you can download it from the official web page here: http://www.fotosketcher.com/download-fotosketcher/

The main changes in this release are:
- new "Emergence" stylized effect (looks like a mosaic or shattered glass)
- 2 new languages (Hungarian and Turkish, thanks Zoltán and Ufuk)
- some interface improvements (larger menu fonts, prettier trackbars and new background pattern)
- many bug fixes (I guarantee that there are plenty left!)

I hope you'll enjoy creating art with this new version ;-)

FotoSketcher 2.25 Release Candidate

I have just uploaded a close to final version 2.25 here: http://www.fotosketcher.com/FotoSketcher_2.25_RC1.exe

If no showstopping bug is found, I will officially release version 2.25 in the next few days. The main changes are the new Emergence effect, two new languages (Hungarian - thanks Zityisoft and Turkish - thanks U. UĞUR), a few cosmetic improvements and some behind the scenes changes.
