Hi everyone,
I am pleased to announce that FotoSketcher version 4.10 Beta 2 is ready for download.
Thank you all for your continued support and for testing the previous beta. I've been listening to your feedback and working on bringing back some familiar features, as well as adding a few new things to improve your workflow.
Here is what is new in version 4.10 Beta 2:
- Batch processing is back: By popular demand, the batch processing feature has returned. You can now easily apply your favorite artistic effects to multiple images at once. Simply press CTRL+B to bring up the batch mode window.
- Improved photo effects: I have added two new and improved photo effects for you to try: Vintage Sepia and Retro Film.
- 14 languages included: Thanks to recent localization updates, the FotoSketcher interface is now available in 14 different languages.
- Panning in manual brush mode: For those of you who use the manual brush, you can now pan around your image more easily. Just hold down CTRL + left mouse button to click and drag your canvas.
- UI improvements: I’ve also included several user interface tweaks and under-the-hood adjustments to make the software look a bit cleaner and run smoothly (larger buttons, bigger preview window, a new frame, etc.).
As always, since this is a beta release, your feedback is very welcome. Please let me know how these updates are working for you, and feel free to report any bugs you might come across.

Happy FotoSketching!

Hello David,
I hope you’re doing well. I recently tried the FotoSketcher 4.10 Beta 2 release, and I wanted to share some feedback and suggestions based on my experience.
First of all, thank you for your continued work on FotoSketcher. It’s a very enjoyable and creative tool to use.
Here are a few points I noticed:
1. Brush Parameter Reset
I noticed that the “reset brush parameters” option is not available in every filter. It would be very helpful if this option could be added consistently across all filters so users can easily restore default settings after making adjustments.
2. Watercolor Filter Texture Behavior
When using the watercolor filter, a texture is automatically added to the background even when I didn’t select one. This seems different from previous versions where texture wasn’t applied by default. If this is intentional, perhaps an option to toggle it would be useful; otherwise, it may need a quick review.
3. Fullscreen Mode Issue
I encountered what might be a bug in fullscreen mode. After applying a filter, sometimes I’m unable to zoom in or out and cannot save the image. However, when I exit fullscreen (restore down), everything works normally again.
4. Applying Filters to Current Image
One feature that would greatly improve workflow is the ability to apply new filters to the current (already filtered) image instead of always reverting to the original image. It would be great to have a checkbox like “Apply filter to current image” so users can build effects step by step. It would also be helpful if these intermediate results could appear in the “Show Gallery” view.
5. File Naming When Saving
In previous versions, when saving an image, the file name was automatically generated in the format "filename_FotoSketcher," which was very convenient. In the current version, it asks to manually enter the file name each time. I personally preferred the previous behavior, so having that option again would be very helpful.
Overall, I really appreciate the effort you’ve put into this software, and I hope these suggestions are helpful for future improvements.
Thank you again for your work!
Hi Jack,
Thank you very much for your detailed feedback. Here are my answers:
1. I'm not sure if you are referring to the Reset brushes button (which only applies to effects that support custom brushes) or to resetting parameters, which is achieved by double-clicking on PARAMETERS. The latter puts all 5 trackbars back to their default values for all effects.
2. Good point; there is indeed a paper texture automatically applied. Now that I have added a more powerful Add texture button, I will remove the default texture application from the Watercolor effect.
3. I could not reproduce this, but sometimes there is a bit of lag before you can save the image. This is usually due to a large PNG being compressed and saved to history in the background. It may have nothing to do with fullscreen mode, waiting a few seconds might solve the issue. Please let me know if you can reproduce the bug reliably.
4. This is exactly what F12 allows you to do. It swaps the source and result, allowing you to apply a new filter to the previously processed image.
5. This will be added. I have already implemented this in Batch mode (CTRL+B), which saves the file as filename_FS.xxx.
All the best and thanks again for testing and giving valuable feedback,
David
Wow...well done.
I can confirm that the ghost window, not opening at startup lock out is GONE
Not checked those mentioned above but that ghosty thing is buried!!
Hi Casey,
That's great news, thanks for confirming :)
Hi David,
Thank you for your helpful reply.
1. You’re right, I was referring to resetting parameters. I tried double-clicking on PARAMETERS again and realized my earlier confusion. It’s working perfectly now.
2. Regarding the fullscreen issue, it might be related to resolution on my end, as I often work with large canvases (6000×6000 and above). I’ll test further and let you know if I can reproduce it consistently.
Also, the F12 option is really useful, that’s exactly what I was looking for.
I also went through the help guide from the manual (version 4.0 https://fotosketcher.com/fotosketcher-help/ ), and it was extremely helpful. I learned a lot of new things, and it really improved the results I’m getting. Very well written, thank you for that.
Thanks again for your support and for such a great tool.
Jack
