Hi all,
The Release Candidate of FotoSketcher Studio 4.70 is now available and this time for both Windows and macOS.
Mac users, thank you for your patience: this is your first chance to try everything 4.70 has to offer ;)
A quick recap of what’s new in 4.70
- Classic Painters: a brand new effect category built on my new brushstroke engine, with eleven painters (Classic oil, Van Gogh, Monet, Cézanne, Seurat, Rembrandt, Sargent, Turner, Gauguin, Renoir and Hopper), each with its own brush and palette. You can even watch the canvas being painted.
- Four classic 3.98 paintings are back: Palette knife, Impressionist, Watercolor 3 and Brushstrokes 3, giving the same results as in 3.98, only much faster.
- Smart eraser: paint over something you don’t want in your photo and it disappears, with the background filled in. Everything runs on your own computer.
- New effects: Palette transfer, Crosshatch 2, Line halftone, Abstract and Modern art (Line halftone and Abstract can be saved as SVG).
- Advanced parameters: a new window gathering the settings that don’t belong to a particular effect.
- And more: AVIF opening, Affinity .afbrushes support, a random seed for repeatable results, 17 new example scripts, a faster manual brush, a more compact interface and many bug fixes.
Since the beta
Thank you to everyone who tested the alphas and betas and sent feedback. This RC includes a number of fixes based on your reports. In particular, when you use the smart eraser on the result image, the same areas are now erased from the source too, so erased objects no longer come back when you apply another filter. The untouched original is still available in the History Gallery.
If all goes well, this RC will become the final 4.70 release, so please let me know if you spot anything wrong.

Happy testing!
David
