Recently a few users have reported problems running FotoSketcher because of a printer related error message.
When launching FotoSketcher, you may get a pop-up window reading "Wait for the connection to printer or cancel the connection". This will unfortunately prevent FotoSketcher from running.
The issue may well be related to a recent Windows update, but I have been unable to reproduce the problem.
It can occur on both Windows 10 or Windows 11 PCs.
If this happens to you, one possible workaround would be to make sure that you have a default printer selected in your Windows settings.
Alternatively, you can download an early version of FotoSketcher 3.95 here: https://fotosketcher.com/FotoSketcher_3.95_alpha1.exe
This alpha version should no longer crash on startup if no printer is detected.
Please let me know in comments below if you still have the problem or if this alpha version solves it for you (fingers crossed).

Hiya, David. Thank you so much for Fotosketcher, and for staying on top of its bugs and its improvement.
Just wondering if anyone's ever reached out with a Mac-based bug before which makes the program impossible to use. Essentially, it opens on a super zoomed-in corner of the default parrot screen, with no menus accessible. Right-clicking only shows half of the "Quit" option. The header is in French, and the only options allowed are a Maximized/minimized 'fenetre' and the option to quit.
I've attempted a reinstall many, many times over the past few months and nothing has worked. I have a friend who uses it on their Mac successfully, so I'm wondering if there's something I could do on my end, if you're familiar with this particular case.
If not, either way: thank you for your work. Fotosketcher is such an amazing tool.

Thank you for your message. I'm not aware of this bug on the MacOS version (which is very much experimental), but I will try to reproduce the issue.
In the meantime, I've been able to run the Windows version of FotoSketcher on my M1 Mac with https://getwhisky.app/.

Je m'intéresse de près à l'IA générative et à titre personnel j'utilise Midjourney. Les résultats sont bluffants, mais je trouve que parfois en zoomant on constate des artefacts assez marqués, caractéristiques de l'IA. J'utilise FotoSketcher sur les images générées par MidJourney et cela donne souvent un rendu convaincant. Je ne vais sans doute pas développer un FotoSketcher basé sur de l'IA, mais continuer à en faire un outil complémentaire de l'IA.
